Affyn - Nexus World & Buddy Arena

Role: Senior 2D Artist (Illustration, Concept and UI) & 3D Animator

I was in charge of the creature character designs that involved concept work up to the completion of model sheets, working closely with the 3D Artist and Art Director to bring them to full completion and with final approval from the Game Director. I was also tasked to oversee work from interns and providing feedback over illustrations and concept sheets for final polish and ideation. I've assisted with UI during a short stint when the assistance was required as well. Towards the end of production, I stepped in to provide support for 3D Animation due to shortage of hands.

Concept Art - Buddies

Concept of a "Buddy", as they were called, started from sketch phase with numerous iterations per buddy till the final product you see here. Style and likeability was important as we wanted to make sure they easily read and had affable a vibe that Pokemon gave. On some iterations you'll see their evolved forms with some accompanying later sketches. Some don't have their final sheets due to the company shutting down and they didn't make it to completion.
